Save the date: Florida Open House, March 26-27

ORLANDO, Fla. – Feb. 7, 2011 – On March 26 and 27, 2011, more than 50,000 balloons bearing the Realtor logo will float above mailboxes across the state. It’s part of the second annual Florida Open House Weekend announced by 2011 Florida Realtors® President Patricia Fitzgerald during the association’s recent Mid-Winter Business Meetings. Realtors are urged to participate.

“It’s a home shopper’s dream,” says Fitzgerald, manager/broker-associate with Illustrated Properties in Hobe Sound and Mariner Sands Country Club in Stuart. “For the serious buyer, the opportunity to tour dozens of homes in one weekend offers convenience and saves time. Other families who didn’t think they could afford a home may be drawn into the market by affordable prices and low interest rates. Florida Open House Weekend is a fun way to attract buyers, connect them with local Realtor experts, and help them learn more about what is available in the local housing market.”

The Florida Open House Weekend coincides with the state’s historically active spring home-selling season and is the culmination of Welcome Home Week, March 21-27 – a week-long celebration of the benefits of homeownership. This week offers the opportunity to spread the word that homeownership matters – and owning a home in Florida means putting down roots in paradise. Welcome Home Week builds excitement for owning a home in the Sunshine State and wraps up with Florida Open House Weekend on March 26-27, raising public and media awareness, and encouraging participation in the largest open house event in the country. For Open House Weekend, Florida Realtors will supply balloons to the state’s local boards/associations to help Realtors at the grassroots level promote the open houses. The balloons will be blue and feature the Realtor “R” logo. They should arrive at local boards/associations in late February. To publicize the event, Florida Realtors has created a Florida Open House Weekend logo that local Realtor organizations and Realtors can use to promote the event to consumers.

In addition to the event logo, Florida Realtors has developed customizable press releases for boards/associations and brokers; ads in a variety of sizes for newspapers and community newsletters; and other collateral materials that are available on the state association’s website at: http://www.floridarealtors.org/AboutFar/OpenHouse/index.cfm
